Michael Pozzan - Annabella Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
Our Price: $16.00

This is a fabulous wine for the money. This medium black plum colored Napa Cabernet is dense with heavily extracted black cherry and boysenberry with integrated vanilla notes. The palate is rich with dark skinned fruit like cassis and black cherry. The resolved tannins are firm on the mid-palate and balanced on the sappy and fruit packed mid-palate; the finish is delicate yet supple, soft yet dry. This fine composition was achieved by harvesting ripe and patiently aging the wine for 22 months in French Oak.

Ridge Vineyards - York Creek Zinfandel 2008
Our Price: $32.00
Sale Price: $28.80

From Ridge Vineyards:
After two years of full yields, this Spring Mountain District vineyard above Napa Valley set a very small crop in 2008. Despite mild summer weather, the grapes were ripe by Labor Day, two weeks earlier than usual. Harvest began September 5 with the young zinfandel, and ended the next week with the thirty-six year old petite sirah; individual parcels fermented separately on their natural yeasts. We pressed as the wines went dry, at eleven days on average. Following natural malolactic, we tasted the finished wines, selecting the five most intense to represent the vintage. The combined lots then aged for fourteen months in air-dried American oak. This full-bodied wine shows the rustic flavors and firm structure typical of zinfandel from York Creek. It will evolve over the next seven to eight years.

Melville Vineyards - Santa Rita Pinot Noir 2009
Melville Vineyards - Santa Rita Pinot Noir 2009
Our Price: $34.00

The Melville Santa Rita Highlands Pinot Noir from 2009 is darker in the glass pushing opaque and tips the scales at 14.1% alcohol. It smells of dark cherry, almost cherry cola in nature, and violets. It has a mouth-coating texture. The full fruit and full body make a dramatic impact on the palate and the finish is more akin to a heavier red wine with some polyphenols that stick to one’s teeth. It has some astringency from tannin as well. The flavors are ripe fruit, a little leather, tobacco and spice. The finish here is big and upfront. This pinot requires full flavored foods, even a lean steak off the grill. Drink now or cellar for 3-5 years.
