From Alex Gambal Vineyards: Our Corton Charlemagne arrives at the end of the harvest so that we have good ripeness. Its power is always there however, it is simply a question that the vintage decides when it wants to show it all off. The 2007’s purity and linear nature is classic; it will need at least 5-7 years to open. 50% new oak.
Alex Gambal Vineyards (Burgundy, France)
As an American, Alex Gambal has a quite unique story, having founded his own Burgundian winery in 1997. Alex Gambal started by making ngociant wine (using purchased grapes), but has since bought his own vineyards, allowing him to make proprietary domaine wines. His rigorous attitude towards quality and his minimalist interventionist winemaking philosophy clearly show in the full-bodied, yet smooth texture of all of his wines. Alex produces a range of outstanding white (chardonnay) and red (pinot noir) Burgundies varying in depth and style from regional (Bourgogne) to Village, 1er Cru, and Grand cru levels. As evidenced by the press coverage around the world, Alex is truly a rising star in Burgundy. His white wines from Corton Charlemagne and Chassagne-Montrachet are truly special wines and built on traditional structure that allows for years of aging. Alexs red wine offering includes some of the best vineyards available including Clos Veugeot and Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses.
