About the Producer
Maison Eric Isselée (Champagne, France)
The vineyards of Eric Isselée are located near the village of Cremant in what is known in Champagne as the Côte de Blancs, and more specifically in an area designated as Grand Cru. Because of this outstanding location, the domaine focuses on Blanc de Blancs (Chardonnay dominated) blends with tremendous results. The Pinot Noir vineyard is well located and produces outstanding Rosé and is blended into one or two cuvées, depending upon the vintage. The Isselée family has a strong presence in Cremant, with the family name on several area wineries, including Eric’s brother whose winery is just across the lane from his own. Due to miniscule production, Eric and his wife also operate a small bed and breakfast, whose guests are of course treated to outstanding libations. The winery is gravity fed and begins with a traditional wooden press that requires days of saturation before the harvest begins. The cellars of Eric Isselée are always growing, as each winter the family is able to carve further into the limestone walls to form new rooms and storage facilities resulting in a charming white cellar that has a unique “Old World” genuine feel. Isselée produces a variety of cuvees that range from Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs to vintage Rosé.
