Crisp and clean. This classic Muscadet is just a touch off
clear with pure notes of lemon zest, white stone and herbs. Great balance and
bright impact on the palate makes this a crowd pleasing light bodied treat. The
perfect summertime wine, this is a great pairing for oysters, shellfish, light
fish and salads with vinaigrette.
Domaine de la Haute Févrie (Loire Valley, France)
Domaine “la Haute Févrie,” located in the heart of the Muscadet appellation near Nantes, traces its origins to the early 20th century. In the very capable hands of the Branger family, now for more than 3 generations, this 26 hectare estate has become one of the leading producers of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, noted for its deep and aromatic wines. It is the exceptional terroir here with its subsoil composed of metamorphic rock (gneiss) that make the single vineyard wines, “Excellence,” “”les Gras Moutons,” and “Clos Joubert,” so remarkable. The latter two cuvées represent the estate’s flagship wines stemming from particularly small vineyard parcels, with 4 has and 1 ha respectively. The limited production (100 cases) “Clos Joubert” is a truly unique Muscadet, as it is vinified and aged in oak barrels for 9 months, thereby contributing to its velvet-like texture and complex aromas.
